First Run Features announces today the world premiere of Alan Govenar's new feature documentary, Master Qi and The Monkey King, as part of the 12th annual Peking Opera Festival in New York on June 16, 2012, to be followed by its release in the home video and VOD markets on August 14.

Lantern Theater Company concludes its best-selling season in company history with The Island, a play by renowned South African collaborators Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona, directed by Peter DeLaurier and starring Philadelphia actors Frank X and U.R. A vivid portrayal of apartheid-era struggle and political oppression, The Island is a fitting bookend for a season which started with the provocative religious drama New Jerusalem. The Island will run from May 17-June 10(press opening: May 23, 7 p.m.).

The Nora Theatre Company (Cambridge, MA) will present the World Premiere production of the new play Operation Epsilon by Alan Brody (The Housewives of Mannheim) at Central Square Theater in Cambridge, MA.
