Playwrights Horizons Announces 2012 Benefit Auction

Playwrights Horizons has announced initial details for its 2012 special online Auction in connection with its annual Spring Gala.  

Bidding for the auction, begins Sunday, April 29 at 10AM at www.biddingforgood/playwrightshorizons.  Online bidding will continue for two weeks through Monday, May 14 (with items staggered to close at 8PM and 9PM).  

 Described as "a writer’s theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American Playwrights, composers and lyricists," it has presented the work of over 375 writers.  The 2011/2012 Season has boasted productions of Itamar Moses’ Completeness, Kirsten Greenidge’s Milk Like Sugar, Jordan Harrison’s Maple and Vine, Leslye Headland’s Assistance, Dan LeFranc’s current The Big Meal and the upcoming Obie Award-winning play Rapture, Blister, Burn.  The Off-Broadway institution is the recipient of numerous awards and last year was honored with its fifth Pulitzer Prize for Drama, for Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park, which had its World Premiere at the theater last season and is currently playing on Broadway.  The 2012-2013 season includes plays and musicals by Annie Baker, Tanya Barfield, Lisa D’Amour, Scott Frankel, Richard Greenberg, Amy Herzog, Samuel D. Hunter and Michael Korie.
