HAPPY TRAILS TO ROCK ME AMADEUS DAS FALCO MUSICAL

After a two-season run and mostly sold-out performances, VBW's latest in-house production is saying goodbye with a special Derniere weekend. On Saturday morning, the VBW invited Musical Members to a very special event. "We wanted to create something to remember, something you can't buy," Christian Struppeck told us afterward. Together with the show's leading actors, Struppeck filled 90 minutes with anecdotes, solo performances, video clips, and a lottery. With a standing ovation and a full house on Saturday at noon, it was a very special event and something to remember.

Followed by Sunday's Derniere, which had been sold out for weeks because everyone wanted to be in the room where it happens. Last shows are always sort of an emotional ride for both actors and their audience. An ongoing act of saying goodbye to something you have been holding dear and near for the last two years.

After entering the theatre on a very hot Sunday in Vienna, there was excitement everywhere. Of course, everyone was curious about what Derniere jokes the cast came up with and, on the other hand, to enjoy their performance for the very last time. There have been tissues and flashlights at a certain point in the show. The final curtain was raised to tremendous applause, witnessed by the show's director, Andreas Gergen, and many other Musical theatre regulars.
Of course, there have been some gags during the show, but nothing to interrupt the story, because it's no shenanigans, just because it is the last one. The show's swings received a special gift as they were included in a couple of numbers; what a charming way to recognize their work and dedication.

ROCK ME AMADEUS' final performance was an energetic and yet emotional one, on and off stage. Another In-House production finished on a high, but maybe someday Falco is COMING HOME. For now, let's enjoy some glimpses of the last performance, as cast members continue to share footage on their Instagram accounts, as Vienna prepares for its summer break. Bussi, Baba.
