MADAME X at KMFA’s Draylen Mason Studio

Austin Shakespeare presents a staged reading of Madame X, an original play by Austin Shakespeare Artistic Director Ann Ciccolella.

Madame X is one of John Singer Sargent’s most well-known portraits. Subject Virginie Gautreau aspired to be the center of the Parisian Belle Époque art world with his daring portrait, but got more than she bargained for, the painting being more infamous than famous. With Laura D’Eramo as Madame X and Michael Morse as John Singer Sargent, the cast is rounded out with Y. A. Oza, Bennie Braswell and Katie Browne.
