Essential Theatre Offers $12 Rush Tickets for Annual Play Festival, 7/8 - 8/8

The Essential Theatre (887 W. Marietta St.) and the Essential Theatre Festival celebrates its 12th year by offering $12 rush tickets before each of its productions during the festival, taking place July 8th to August 8th. There are only 12 rush tickets available and they will go on sale 12 minutes before each performance.

Aurora Theatre continues our series of club comedy on the Lawrenceville square, Funny Fridays with a huge night of hilarity on August 20 with shows at 7:15 pm & 9:15 pm . The evening will offer stand-up comedy from three very funny fellows. Audiences will love our special guest host for the evening comedian Chelsie Rice, whose style is clearly influenced by the old-school greats Redd Foxx, Don Rickles, and Flip Wilson just to name a few. The featured act for the evening is one of the founders of Affirmative Action Comedy, Steve Haigh. Steve is a great down to earth observational comedian, and the perfect compliment to our Headliner, the geeky-chic Mike Haun.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Turner Classic Movies today announced the three finalists for the 'Atlanta Symphony Songster 2010' amateur vocal competition. They are: Joseph Brewer (Columbus, GA), Rebekah Dossou (Lilburn, GA), and Christina Lewis (Cincinnati, OH). Their YouTube.com video-entries are currently available on the Orchestra's website here. The three finalists will sing 'Over the Rainbow' with the Orchestra prior to the start of the The Wizard of Oz concert on Saturday, August 14, 2010 - the competition will also be streamed live on UStream.com. Audience members will select the winner by text message or by online voting. Winners will be announced at intermission of the concert by Turner Classic Movies' own Ben Mankiewicz.

The Board of Directors of Actor's Express is pleased to announce that Lara Smith will join the theatre as Managing Director. Lara replaces current Managing Director Scott Clodfelter, who is moving to Chicago. She will leave her current position of Development Director at Atlanta's highly respected Dad's Garage Theatre Company to begin her new role at Actor's Express on August 1.

The Chamber Singers celebrate summer with a diverse choral concert including popular folk songs, lively hymns and hits from musical theatre. Bree Shannon didn't always want to become an actress. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA in interior design and worked for firms in Atlanta and New York City before finally committing herself to the Pinch n' Ouch Theatre as a Co-Artistic Director following the recession in 2008. 'I thought what better time than now to follow my heart,' says Shannon. 'I was scared and didn't know what the [acting] industry had to offer, but I knew I was ready.'
