Aurora Theatre Presents Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde 10/7-31

This October, Aurora Theatre stages a fast-paced, thrilling production of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. This show is an ensemble-driven adaptation by Jeffery Hatcher from the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson. Jeffery Hatcher is an American playwright, well known for transporting great works of fiction to the stage. Best known for his stage version of Tuesdays with Morrie (co-authored with Mitch Albom), he has also adapted works from Henry James to Edgar Allen Poe. In fact, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde was nominated by the Mystery Writers of America for an Edgar Award in 2008. In this chilling new account of the classic tale, Dr. Henry Jekyll tips the scales with his dangerous experiments, bringing forth his other self, the horrifying monster Edward Hyde. It seems that only a woman can stop the vicious cycle. This fiendishly clever version reveals the many faces of Edward Hyde as each talented actor takes a hand at portraying the monster himself.

Complimenting the contemporary feel of the script, Aurora Theatre draws upon the popular Steampunk trend for the overall design concept of the costumes and scenery. Steampunk applies to art, fiction and fashion set in a world where steam power is still widely used and is often reminiscent of Victorian England. Steampunk is recognizable in its blending of the past with futuristic technology found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne. With Metro Atlanta's annual STEAMfest and Dragon*Con, devoted to science fiction lovers, Aurora Theatre welcomes the Steampunk community to a preview performance of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde October, 6 at 8:00PM. Anyone dressed in Steampunk attire will receive complimentary admission to the performance that night. Grab a pair of goggles or lace up a corset and enjoy our special sneak peak.

Aurora Theatre welcomes back leading man Brik Berkes (Dial M for Murder - Aurora Theatre) as Dr. Henry Jekyll and Suehyla El-Attar (Storytelling Ability of a Boy - Aurora Theatre) as the romantic foil for devilish Mr. Hyde, Elizabeth Jelkes. All other performers portray multiple roles with four different actors taking on Dr. Jekyll's alter ego, Mr. Hyde. The cast list of amazing performers includes: James Donadio, Shannon Eubanks, Scott Warren, Matt Felten and Kelly Criss, all making their Aurora Theatre debut.
