BRING IT ON Preview at Alliance Theatre Cancelled Due to Weather

Due to the unprecedented snow and ice in Atlanta, the dangerous road conditions caused by severe weather, and the closure of the Woodruff Arts Center since Monday, we are cancelling this Saturday evening's first preview performance of Bring It On: The Musical. Previews will now begin Sunday, January 16th with performances at 2:30pm and 7:30pm.

Imagination and teamwork will be center stage when a diverse cast of over 2,000 students and teachers representing 50+ schools and educational theatre groups from 15 states and Canada join Broadway creatives in a monumental celebration of the arts at the 2011 Junior Theater Festival happening January 14 - 16, 2011, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA, it was announced today by Theater of the Stars president, Nick Manos and Timothy Allen McDonald, founding chairman of iTheatrics. Four-time Tony nominated composer Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek the Musical) will receive the Junior Theater Festival Award for Advancement of Musical Theatre for Young People, while Broadway producer and Disney Theatrical Group president Thomas Schumacher will be the festival's keynote speaker and Grammy award-winning musician, producer and songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox will participate in a Q&A session with all attendees. For the first time, in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, the festival will also feature 'Dream Boxes' where students will record 30 second messages with their dreams for the future to be uploaded on the Internet.

Filled with experiences that defy categorization, Blue Man Group is best known for multi-media performances that feature three bald and blue characters who take the audience on a journey that is funny, intelligent and visually stunning. When the latest tour arrives at the Fabulous Fox Theatre January 18 - 23, however, Atlanta audiences, even those who have experienced the Blue phenomenon, are in for something new and exciting. Featuring classic moments and brand new content, this first theatrical production to tour North America is sure to please. The "Blue Men" are usually men of few (or more accurately, no) words, but I got one of them, Kalen Allmandinger, a veteran Blue Man, to speak long enough to tell me a little about himself, this exciting new production and why audiences of all ages are in for a real treat.

These memories come from years of tellings and re-tellings of this classic story, but new memories will be created for theater-goers when the latest production of Peter Pan comes to Atlanta January 21 through April 10. Performing in a state-of-the-art tented structure in Pemberton Place (downtown, between the World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium) this production, which utilizes 360 degrees of CGI graphics and state of the art technology to immerse the audience in the world of Peter Pan, is sure to amaze. To learn about the production and its journey to Atlanta, we spoke with Robert Butters, one of the producers of the show and found out what we can expect when Peter and friends fly into Atlanta later this month.
