Inspired by the popular novel, Aurora Swing Nights begins another season of concerts tonight, Sept 8 at 8:00 PM with a concert titled, 50 Shades of Swing. Great jazz has long been known as a powerful aphrodisiac, Aurora Theatre Swing Nights featuring Metro Jazz Club are a series of concerts with magnificent music performed in an intimate venue with powerhouse vocalists.

The Metro Jazz Club is a smokin’-hot 17 piece band, dedicated to the preservation of some of the best music ever composed from the smoothest jazz to the spirited rhythms of swing. Led by jazz sax man Gary Dalton, the band is accompanied by crooner Jason Joines. The concert will be hosted by the incomparable Ann-Carol Pence and feature Aurora’s own Jevares C. Myrick. Jevares recently returned from Washington D.C. singing at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival to appear in Sweet Charity and has been a mainstay in Christmas Canteen at Aurora Theatre (2008-2011). Jevares was a background vocalist and dancer for Jo Dee Messina, Lee Ann Womack, LeAnn Rimes, Usher, Alicia Keys and many other popular recording artists. 50 Shades of Swing, just like the Glenn Miller classic big band tune, promises to get couples In the Mood.

Programming in Aurora Theatre’s 2012-2013 Main Stage Season is possible through generous support from Metro Waterproofing and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund. Aurora Theatre Swing Nights is sponsored by Ameriprise Financial.
