The 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed last night to recipients in 14 categories and 4 special honors were bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. Award presenters this year included some of the biggest and brightest stars from stage and screen, including: Leslie Bibb, Ari Brand, Celina Carvajal, Anna Chlumsky, Ben Foster, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Jordan, Richard Kind, Louisa Krause, Christopher Lloyd, Zosia Mamet, Lindsay Mendez, David Morse, Cynthia Nixon, Leslie Odom, Jr., Hettienne Park, David Hyde Pierce, Martha Plimpton, Rain Pryor, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, John Slattery, Rich Sommer, Matthew James Thomas, Fred Weller and Jennifer Westfeldt.
The Off-Broadway League's Lortel Awards Producing & Administration Committee (Terry Byrne, Denise Cooper, Margaret Cotter, George Forbes, Melanie Herman, Catherine Russell and Steven Showalter) produces the Lortel Awards Ceremony. Acclaimed writer and director Michael Heitzman returned to direct the Lortel Awards for the fourth consecutive year. The Lucille Lortel Awards is produced by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation. Additional support provided by Theatre Development Fund. The Phantom of the Opera celebrated 35 years on Broadway last night, January 26, at the Majestic Theatre. The production opened on January 26, 1988. BroadwayWorld was there to capture some special moments from the big night, including members of the creative team, the cast's curtain call, and more!

On December 6, there was a celebration of The American Theatre As Seen By Hirschfeld, the title of both the new book and the inaugural exhibition at The Museum of Broadway. The Al Hirschfeld foundation hosted a cocktail reception celebrating the new book at The Algonquin before offering a private tour of the new exhibition at the museum. Check out photos here!
