Fountain Gallery Presents SUM OF ITS PARTS 4/30-6/9

Fountain Gallery, the premier venue in New York City representing artists with mental illness, located at 702 Ninth Avenue, today announced the opening of Sum of Its Parts. This group exhibition of collage and assemblage will be on view from April 30 through June 9, 2010, with an Opening Reception on April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sum of Its Parts is curated by Pavel Zoubok.

"Perhaps no art form expresses the character of the twentieth century and the contemporary moment with greater clarity and immediacy than collage," said Pavel Zoubok, owner and director of Pavel Zoubok Gallery in New York City, a gallery with a particular focus in the fields of collage, assemblage and mixed media installation. "The artist confronts us with a vision of the world that is literally constructed from the physical context of his /her own experience," continued Zoubok. "Found images and objects function as signifiers of both individual and collective experience, and by incorporating materials that are inextricably linked to the realities of daily life, the artist establishes an immediate identification, both real and imagined, between the viewer and the work of art," concluded Zoubok.

Sum of Its Parts showcases 30 works of collage and assemblage by Fountain Gallery artists.
