Broadway's biggest night will be back in 2025! The Tony Awards, Broadway's most beloved tradition, returns in June, honoring theater professionals for distinguished achievement in the 2024/2025 Broadway season. What can you expect this time around? We've got the scoop!
The 78th Annual Tony Awards will return to the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8, 2025. This will mark the first time the awards have been hosted at Radio City Music Hall since 2022. 2025 will also mark the 21st Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, which has hosted the ceremony more than any other venue. The ceremony will be broadcasting live to both coasts, 8-11pm LIVE ET/5– 8pm LIVE PT on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs). The Tony Awards: Act One is a live pre-show featuring awards categories that will not be shown on the main broadcast. It will be hosted by Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry and will be available to stream for free on Pluto TV at 6:40-8pm,ET/3:40-5pm PT.
The pre-show will be featured on Pluto's Live Music channel.
Nominations for the 2025 Tony Awards were announced on Thursday, May 1 2025 (9am) by Sarah Paulson and Wendell Pierce. View the ful list of nominees and learn more about stats of the season.
The Nominating Committee attends all productions during the Broadway season and meets on the date designated by the Administration Committee to determine, by vote, the Tony Award nominees for that season. The 2024-2025 committee of the Tony Nominators will include 62 members. Members of the committee serve a three-year term. Learn more about the 2025 Nominating Committee.
The Tony Awards eligibility window for the 2024-2025 season is Friday, April 26, 2024 through Sunday, April 27, 2025 for all Broadway productions which meet all eligibility requirements. Learn about the first round, second round, third round, and fourth round of eligibility rulings.
Tony, Emmy, and GRAMMY Award-winner and three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo will host for the first time. She follows in the footsteps of Ariana DeBose, who hosted the last three Tony Awards ceremonies (2022-24). Other recent hosts have included: Audra McDonald and Leslie Odom Jr. (2021), James Corden (2019), and Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban (2018).
“I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor,” said Erivo. “I am looking forward to ushering the theatre community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion.”

Legendary actor and writer, and four-time Tony Award winner, Harvey Fierstein will receive the 2025 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
Celia Keenan-Bolger will receive the 2025 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for her unwavering dedication to advocacy work through the arts.
2025 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will go to Great Performances, Michael Price, New 42, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
The Muny — the Municipal Theatre Association of St. Louis — will be the recipient of the 2025 Regional Theatre Tony Award.
The ceremony will feature performances from nominated shows: Buena Vista Social Club, Dead Outlaw, Death Becomes Her, Floyd Collins, Gypsy, Maybe Happy Ending, Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Sunset Blvd., along with a special appearance by the 2019 Tony Honor Recipient Broadway Inspirational Voices. Just In Time and Real Women Have Curves, which were not nominated for Best Musical (though they received nominations in other categories) will also be performing.
The original Broadway cast of Hamilton will reunite to celebrate the show's tenth anniversary. Participating in the performance are Carleigh Bettiol, Andrew Chappelle, Ariana DeBose, Alysha Deslorieux, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Sydney James Harcourt, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Christopher Jackson, Thayne Jasperson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Stephanie Klemons, Morgan Marcell, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Javier Muñoz, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Phillipa Soo, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes and Voltaire Wade-Greene.
Presenters will include: Aaron Tveit, Adam Lambert, Alex Winter, Allison Janney, Ariana DeBose, Ben Stiller, Bryan Cranston, Carrie Preston, Charli D’Amelio, Danielle Brooks, Jean Smart, Jesse Eisenberg, Katie Holmes, Keanu Reeves, Kelli O’Hara, Kristin Chenoweth, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Lea Michele, Lea Salonga, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michelle Williams, Oprah, Rachel Bay Jones, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Samuel L. Jackson, Sara Bareilles, and Sarah Paulson. Additionally, Tony Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will be the show announcer.
