Cuna To Host Oscars Viewing Party, 3/7

Cuna, the contemporary Lakeview neighborhood bar serving globally-inspired shareable plates from chef Kendal Duque, will host an Oscars Viewing Party featuring a red carpet, drink specials, and costume and performance contests for starting at 5:30pm on Sunday, March 7.

Cuna will show the Oscars live - with sound - on all of its flatcreens during its Oscars Viewing Party. Cuna will roll out the red carpet and allow patrons to participate in costume and performance contests in Oscar-themed categories for prizes that include Cuna gift certificates, Kendal Duque's food, and drinks.

The Oscar costume and performance contest categories are:
* Best Dressed Female
* Best Dressed Male
* Best Dressed Couple
* Best Monologue
* Best Acceptance Speech
* Best Jack Nicholson Impression
* Best Marilyn Monroe Impression
* Zoolander Walk Off

Patrons can also fill out a paper ballot and pick winners in all the major Oscars categories before the award show starts. Winners will receive prizes as well.

Drink specials during the Cuna Oscars Viewing party include ½ price wine bottles. Also, all 12 of Cuna's specialty cocktails ($10 each) will transform for the night into Oscar-themed names. They are:
* The "Belmont Whistle" (Hendrick's gin, Tito's handmade vodka, cucumber-infused simple syrup, cucumber garnish) becomes the "Katherine Hepburn"
* The "Love Jones" (Absolut Mandarin vodka, Parfait Amour liquor, raw egg white, lemon juice, superfine sugar, lemon twist garnish) becomes the "Marilyn Monroe"
* The "Mocha" (Three Olives Chocolate vodka, Three Olives Triple Shot Espresso vodka, Godiva Chocolate liqueur, Godiva White Chocolate liqueur, cinnamon stick & coffee bean garnishes) becomes the "Halle Berry"
* The "Zen" (Absolut Peach vodka, Bols Triple Sec, green tea, ginger syrup, mint sprig garnish) becomes the "Vivian Leigh"
* The "Foi Dog" (Kilo Kai rum, heavy cream, raw whole egg, yam-spiced gomme syrup, cinnamon stick garnish) becomes the "Sophia Loren"
* "The Shipwreck" (Kilo Kai rum, ginger syrup, ginger beer, lime squeeze, lime slice garnish) becomes the "Ginger Rogers"
* "The Executive (Grey Goose vodka, Terre Gaie Prosecco, lemon zest garnish) becomes "Michael Douglas"
* "The Apprentice" (Grey Goose L'Orange vodka, Thatcher Apple Spiced Ginger liquor, Terre Gaie Prosecco, orange twist garnish) becomes the "Charlie Sheen"
* The "Formula One" (Chivas Regal 12 Year Old Scotch, Cointreau, simple syrup, sugar rim, caramelized lemon twist garnish) becomes the "Steve McQueen"
* The "Sazerac" (Pernod absinthe rinse, Templeton Rye, gomme syrup, water splash, bitters, burnt orange peal garnish) becomes the "Jack Nicholson"
* The "Negroni" (Plymouth Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, toasted orange slice garnish) becomes the "Marlon Brando"
* The "Old Fashioned" (Maker's Mark bourbon, muddled cherries & orange slice, simple syrup, soda water splash, bitters) becomes the "Humphrey Bogart"

Doors open at 4pm for the Cuna Oscars Viewing Party, and there is no cover charge.

Cuna's full, regular food menu will be available from 4pm until 10pm. Cuna's truncated late-night food menu will be available from 10pm until midnight.

ABOUT CUNA: Chicago businessman Paolo Acuna created Cuna, a contemporary 6,000 square foot neighborhood bar with affordable price points for food and drink in Lakeview.
