Classic Films Return To Temple Of Music And Art This Month

Arizona Theatre Company presents two classic films in June at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue, Tucson. Tickets for all films are $10 and may be purchased online at arizonatheatre.orgor at the door on the night of the film. All tickets are general admission.

Breakfast at Tiffany's- June 22 at 7 p.m. Based on Truman Capote's best-selling novella and starring the incomparable Audrey Hepburn in perhaps her most iconic role, Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) is a truly classic film. Holly Golightly (Hepburn) lives in a brownstone on Manhattan's swank East Side. Totally madcap, she has a partially furnished apartment, owns a cat with no name, and gets rid of the "mean reds" by visiting Tiffany's. She is forever misplacing her door key, much to the dismay of her upstairs neighbor Mr. Yunioshi, a Japanese photographer. Holly makes a living in two ways: She receives $50 from her gentlemen escorts whenever she needs powder room money, and she is paid $100 for each weekly trip she makes to Sing-Sing, where she visits Sally Tomato, an ex-mobster. Directed by Blake Edwards and starring Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, and Mickey Rooney.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert -June 23 at 7 p.m. Introduced and hosted by Tucson's own Drag Diva, Tempest DuJour! This cult classic from 1994 follows two drag queens and a transgender woman as they journey across the Australian Outback from Sydney to Alice Springs in a tour bus that they named "Priscilla." Along the way, they encounter various groups and individuals for adventures. The film won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design and subsequently provided the basis for the musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desertin 2006, which traveled to New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada and Broadway. The film stars Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce,and Terence Stamp.
