On October 15th, Christopher McDonald will succeed Grammy Award-winner Usher as Billy Flynn in the smash Broadway revival of Chicago.

McDonald returns to Chicago after having played the oily lawyer last summer.   Huey Lewis, as previously announced, will take over in the role after McDonald, who will perform through November 19th.  Lewis, who rejoins the cast on November 20th, is scheduled through January 14th.

Chicago currently stars Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Branda Braxton as Velma, Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton, Rob Bartlett as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.  On December 31st, Bebe Neuwirth, who won a Tony for her performance as Velma, will rejoin Chicago--this time as Roxie.

The prolific McDonald has appeared on TV in "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Fat Actress," "North Shore," and "Veronica's Closet," among others, while his screen credits include Rumor Has It, Broken Flowers, Grind, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, The Man Who Wasn't There, The Perfect Storm, Requiem for a Dream, Nurse Betty, Isn't She Great, Happy Gilmore, Quiz Show, Thelma and Louise and Grumpy Old Men.

Chicago,
which opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14th 1996, has reached a run of over 4,100 performances at the Ambassador Theatre (215 W. 49th St.); the show will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in November. Chicago received 6 1997 Tonys (including Best Revival of a Musical) under the direction of Walter Bobbie and the choreography of star Ann Reinking. The revival, based on Bobbie's stylistically stripped-down Encores! staging, featured direction and choreography by Bob Fosse in its original 1975 production. Chicago features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse.
