McKechnie, Sills and More Star in Glen Roven Concert, 5/25

On Thursday, May 25th at 7PM, Queer Songbook will present an evening of songs by Glen Roven at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (208 W. 13th St. in Greenwich Village).

Queer Songbook will welcome Roven, as well as Broadway stars Donna McKechnie (Tony Award-winner for A Chorus Line), Sandy Duncan (Peter Pan, TV's "The Hogan Family"), Douglas Sills (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Little Shop of Horrors), Kaitlin Hopkins (Noises Off, Bat Boy), Sal Viviano (Falsettos), Noah Galvin and acclaimed classical violinist Ittai Shapira and the "I Hate Music" choir of young Broadway performers. "From musical theatre to the children's classic The Runaway Bunny, join this edition of Queer Songbook for a diverse and entertaining musical concert," state press notes.

Roven is a four-time Emmy Award winner who has two musicals for Broadway scheduled for production in the fall--Dr. Seuss's The 5000 Fingers Of Dr. T., and Pandora's Box. His new violin concerto, based on the children's classic, The Runaway Bunny, and performed by the Royal Philharmonic, Ittai Shapira and Brooke Shields was recently released by SONY/BMG. He has composed songs for Broadway and off-Broadway productions and has written, conducted and/or produced for such luminaries as Placido Domingo, Kathleen Battle, Julie Andrews, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Kermit the Frog, Patti LaBelle, Liza Minnelli, and Frank Sinatra, to name a few.
