'American Briefs' Short Plays by American Writers Opens October 28

Above The Stag Theatre presents AMERICAN BRIEFS, new short plays by American playwrights im Dalglish, Jack Heifner, David Johnston, Tom W. Kelly, Ronnie Larsen, Howard Walters and directed by Peter Bull. Performances will take place at the ABOVE THE STAG THEATRE from 28 October - 23 November 2008 TUES - SAT 8pm SUN 6pm.

A special preview benefit performance to raise funds for Stonewall will take place on Tuesday 28th October 8.00pm.

American Briefs contains adult themes and is not suitable for children. American Briefs is the inaugural production at Above The Stag Theatre, a new 50 seat venue in central London.

The cast includes Leon Ancliffe, Gareth ap Watkins, Richard Gee, Graham Townsend.

Peter Bull is Producing Artistic Director of Above The Stag Theatre. His London fringe productions include Vinegar Tom, Dangerous, Taken In, Extra Virgin, Boys' Play, Strawberry Daiquiri and Seduction. He recently served as associate producer for The Lightning Field at Oval House Theatre. In the USA he has directed productions for the Players Theatre New York, Spiral Theatre Milwaukee and Bailiwick Repertory Chicago, as well as working on the infamous Milwaukee production of Naked Boys Singing! Peter is also associate producer of the UK and US national tours of SHOUT! -The Swinging 60's Musical.

Playwrights -

Jim Dalglish (The Black Eye) is based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The Black Eye won Best Short Play Award at the Edward Albee Last Frontier Theater Festival.

Jack Heifner (The Student and the Handyman; The Student and the Professor) is the Tony Award nominated author of over thirty plays. He is best known for his play Vanities which became one of the longest running plays in off-Broadway history.

A musical version of Vanities is preparing for production on Broadway in 2009.

David Johnston (Letters) is an award winning New York writer. He was named one of Time Out's ‘Playwrights to Watch For' in 2006.

Tom W. Kelly (Faded Photographs; The Virgin Tango) lives in San Francisco. His plays have received many productions throughout the U.S. He teaches playwriting at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theatre Center.

Ronnie Larsen (The Phone Bill) is pure-white-gay-American-trash. He is also a playwright, sex addict, web master, free speech advocate, filmmaker, cross dresser and party promoter. His plays have been produced throughout America including Off Broadway.

Ronnie Larsen is pure-white-gay-American- in a real estate business.
