The Open Road, a staged concert reading featuring the music of Brian Lowdermilk (The Woman Upstairs, The Wheel, Room To Grow) will be presented for a two night engagement this January 3 & 4th, 2005 at 8PM at the Lark Theater in New York City.
Brian Lowdermilk most recently garnered critical acclaim for his musical, The Woman Upstairs, which was presented as part of the first annual New York Music Theater Festival ("... Lowdermilk has tossed out a cornucopia of melodies and counter-melodies that rocket him upward on the list of people who are pointing to exciting new directions for the book musical." - TheatreMania.com). He has written and composed several other pieces for the theatre, including; Transient Days, The Wheel, and RED, among others. Brian's first effort, Transient Days, premiered at the Walnut Street Theatre's Studio 5 in Philadelphia, PA. The Wheel won the 2002 Birth of a Musical Festival, and has received staged readings at North Shore Music Theatre, Suffolk University, and the York Theatre Company. Brian studied at Harvard College and the Berklee School of Music, and is currently pursuing his B. Mus. in Composition at New York University, where he is the 2003 recipient of the Alan Menken Award.
