Dr. Pettiford-Wates currently teaches in the Graduate MFA Pedagogy Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. She also serves as the Artistic Director and Conceptualist for The Conciliation Project, Richmond's social justice theatre company which aims to promote, through active and challenging dramatic work, open and honest dialogue about racism and oppression in America. Additional casting has been announced for the new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical, Gigi. Joining the previously announced Vanessa Hudgens in the title role will be two-time Tony Award-nominee Howard McGillin (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes, The Phantom of the Opera) as Honore Lachaille, Corey Cott (Newsies) as Gaston Lachaille and Steffanie Leigh(Mary Poppins) as Liane d'Exelmans. Henry Wishcamper directs a cast featuring ensemble members Francis Guinan and Tim Hopper with Helen Sadler, Dan Waller and M. Emmet Walsh. The world premiere of The Night Alive was produced at the Donmar Warehouse in 2013. The play, a new comedy about a deeply dramatic family, was written by Donald Margulies and was his sixth Geffen Production, including Dinner With Friends, Coney Island Christmas, Times Stands Still, and Sight Unseen. Time Stands Still is so well written with honest observations on modern life, and directed with an intimate understanding of the characters, the audience is positioned as flies on the wall watching the action as if we are reflecting on our own lives as well as the characters. The actors are totally focused and feed off the energy emanating from each other from moment to moment, making the action and emotions all the more real and heartfelt. This is truly a brilliant piece of theater, posing thought-provoking unanswerable questions. (more...)

While Callas has ultimately been lauded as the top operatic singer in the last century, Iannone has garnered a 2014 Ten Chimneys Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship under David Hyde Pierce's directorship. Then Iannone was recently awarded Milwaukee's second Ruth Schudson Leading Lady Honoree that adds to her multiple theater achievements. Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere co-production of THE COUNTRY HOUSE, the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, begins rehearsals today. The limited engagement will begin previews Tuesday, September 9 and open Thursday, October 2 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). A Tony nominee for Best Play, Time Stands Still is a witty, intelligent examination of the power of war against the backdrop of the homefront. Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist, share a passion for the adrenaline rush that comes from reporting stories in the world's deadliest war zones. When the realities of combat become too much for James, a rift begins to form between them. After Sarah is wounded in a bomb blast in Iraq, she is forced to return home to James and the safety, and comparative boredom, of New York.
