Tapestry Dance Company presents the premiere of TIME

(Austin, TX) – Tapestry Dance Company, North America’s only repertory tap dance company presents the premiere of Acia Gray’s TIME – A Journey Toward Present Grace.

“It's been a few seasons since Tapestry Dance Company has tackled a premiere that deals with a topic other than an historical perspective or tribute to the incredible history and legacy of tap dance. With "The Souls of Our Feet"" and "April Fools" being two of those critically acclaimed and successful examples, returning to my love of contemporary and theatrical work has been a wonderful journey over the last few weeks. This ensemble creation shows a beautiful diversity to the company that is rarely seen in performance. I'm honored to have such a creative "team" in place to play with. I can't wait to witness the final product on opening night” –Acia Gray, Artistic Director

Working in a collaborative playground with the dancers of Tapestry, this new work "Time" presents a rhythm journey based on a concept and definition of "the manmade illusion of control we call time."

Where have we been, what are we doing, where are we going, and how do we get there? - are just some of the questions that have brought unique rhythmic responses not only from the pallet of director/choreographer Acia Gray but some of the best young tap dancers on the international stage today – the members of Tapestry Dance Company. Not only are these artists presenting new ensemble work within the entire evening but their own comedic as well as poignant choreography all responding to the challenge of the definition of time.

Susan Fries' New Book Earns Honorable Mention in the 2014 San Francisco Book Festival
by BWW News Desk - Aug 1, 2014

Inspired and motivated by her son who suffered from symptoms of chronic asthma, Sue Fries approached the pest management industry like only a mother would by providing effective non-chemical alternatives. In what might sound like a page out of a sci-fi novel, her company, Ecola Termite and Pest Control Management, utilizes alternative methods like Ecola HEAT (TM), the Electro-Gun and microwave technology to rid her customer's homes of termites and other pesky pests. And, although many national companies successfully use alternative methods for controlling termites, Sue Fries and ECOLA Termite and Pest consider themselves to be The Alternative Methods Specialists. By using a combination of treatment techniques Ecola believes that they can be more effective in controlling termites in most structures with the least amount of chemicals in our environment. BWW Reviews: World Premiere of STONE SOUP is a Delicious, Family Friendly Treat
by Jeff Davis - Aug 1, 2014

SummerStock Austin has a long tradition of producing one musical specifically written for the under 13 set every year. I was introduced to this tradition back in 2012 when I went to a performance of SummerStock Austin's production of A Year With Frog and Toad. As a childless twenty-something guy, I was the only adult in the audience who was unaccompanied by a kid. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the show and praised its ability to please all audience members, regardless of age. The next year, I attended The Bremen Town Musicians, and was pleased to see that, once again, the show spoke to adults and children. It's no surprise then, that history's repeating itself with SummerStock Austin's production of Stone Soup. In its world premiere production, Stone Soup pleases kids and adults alike and easily entertains from beginning to end. (more...)
