Curated by Juan Michael Porter II, THE SERIES 2017 presents a versatile range of artistically provocative choreographers in contrasting programs of dance.  At each performance, one or two of the 12 guest companies will share the program with Michael Mao Dance in a set of works that run the gamut from social dance to jazz to contemporary ballet to abstract pieces marked by their German Expressionistic values. Premiere Stages at Kean University Announces 2017 Season

For the first time in its 13-year history, Premiere Stages will provide expanded development to five new works in one season, including the New Jersey Premiere of Skeleton Crew, the third play in Dominique Morisseau's critically acclaimed Detroit cycle, and the first professional production of Chris Cragin-Day's heartwarming play, Foster Mom, winner of the 2017 Premiere Stages Play Festival. This season will also feature free developmental workshops of Patricia Cotter's 1980 (Or Why I'm Voting For John Anderson), runner-up for the 2017 Play Festival, and two exciting new play commissions, Nicole Pandolfo's Brick City, developed in cooperation with NJPAC and the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, and Martin Casella's Black Tom Island, recipient of the 2017/2018 Liberty Live Commission in partnership with Liberty Hall Museum. SMU's National Center for Arts Research (NCAR) today released its third annual Arts Vibrancy Index, which ranks more than 900 communities across the country, examining the level of supply, demand, and government support for the arts in each city. Girls on the Run Receives $50,000 from the LIDS Foundation 'Tip the Hat Award'

Girls on the Run International is grateful to be named the recipient of a $50,000 grant through the LIDS Foundation's annual 'Tip the Hat Award', which supports nonprofits that promote active and healthy lifestyles as well as leadership and growth opportunities for today's youth. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program that helps girls in 3rd through 8th grade develop key life skills through dynamic lessons and interactive running games. During each 10-week season, girls strengthen their sense of self, build connections with teammates and coaches, create and implement a Community Impact Project, and prepare to complete a celebratory end-of-season 5K event.
