John Michael Coppola, who appeared in Chicago's smash hit production of Jersey Boys, will headline A JERSEY VOICE: Sinatra to Springsteen…and Everyone in Between on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 7:30 pm at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St. in Arlington Heights. The one night only concert event will also star THE FOUR C NOTES, the Midwest's only Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute group. The song-filled evening will benefit Arlington Cares, a not-for-profit organization created to help raise money for the Village of Arlington Heights Emergency Assistance Fund. Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Toronto theatre-fans had a real treat last night when Rebecca Caine, the original Christine in Toronto's record-setting run of The Phantom of the Opera (1989-1999), visited SINGular Sensation at Statlers (487 Church St.) to perform a few songs and take in the local talent. Caine is also known for originating the role of Cosette in Les Miserables, as well as her many opera credits. Caine is also the winner for the 2014 BroadwayWorld Toronto Award for Best Cabaret Performance or Solo Concert. (more...)

Las Vegas' Smith Center for the Performing Arts is an extraordinary place. It's diverse programs encompass just about all of the performing arts. The building, designed by David M. Schwartz is a Neo Art Deco design and features a 47-bell carillon housed in a 17-story carillon tower. The design, Schwartz said at the opening, was chosen to echo the design elements of Hoover Dam, located 30 miles away. It is the first performing arts center in the United States to be Gold LEED certified. After three years of planning and construction, it opened on March 10, 2012. (more...)
