The Pulitzer Prize Board has just announced that English, by Sanaz Toossi has won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Other finalists included: On Sugarland by Aleshea Harris and The Far Country by Lloyd Suh.

San Jose Stage Company has announced new dates for the final production of its 39th Season, Sam Shepard’s rarely produced THE TOOTH OF CRIME.  Due to an unfortunate COVID-19 outbreak within the company, THE TOOTH OF CRIME will now run from August 3 – 21, 2022 at San Jose Stage Company (490 South 1st Street, San Jose, CA, 95113).

Crown Arts Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of returning theatre and art to the historic Crown Uptown Stage, and to make art for the community, by like-minded artists in the community.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Michael R. Jackson's A Strange Loop has officially won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included: Will Arbery's Heroes of the Fourth Turning and David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori's Soft Power.

First produced in 1978, Buried Child won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, catapulting film actor, Sam Shepard to national fame as a playwright. It was honored with five Tony nominations, including a?oeBest Play,a?? for its revival on Broadway in 1996. Set in an old farmhouse in Illinois, Buried Child reflects the frustrations of the American people and their disillusionment with the American dream. At the same time, Mr. Shepard has masterfully created a drama, which is both engaging and entertaining. He has incorporated surrealism and symbolism in the framework of realism. Audience members will likely discover elements within this complex and powerful play, which are as resonant today as they were in 1978.

Artistic Director Robert Falls announces an update to Goodman Theatre's 2019/2020 Season. The Chicago premiere of School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play by Jocelyn Bioh, directed by Lili-Anne Brown, originally scheduled for the Owen Theatre, will move into the 856-seat Albert Theatre; the Falls-directed major revival of Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel, originally scheduled for the Albert Theatre, will move into the 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre.

EgoPo Classic Theater will carry on its tradition of producing annual themed festival seasons with the 2019-2020 Festival Season, Shepard Country, celebrating the ground-breaking works of the late, great American playwright Sam Shepard. A Noise Within (ANW), California's acclaimed classic repertory theatre company, is proud to announce that single tickets are now on sale for its 2019-2020 season, THEY PLAYED WITH FIRE. ANW's 28th season will run August through June and will feature seven productions: Frankenstein, Gem of the Ocean, Buried Child, The Winter's Tale, Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, plus the return of holiday favorite Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in December. New and renewing season passholders had the first opportunity to access priority seating last month. It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview has officially won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

On Thursday night, Roundabout Theatre Company brought Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, True West, back to Broadway, continuing the legacy of the late playwright's work.

Rainy Day Productions will present industry readings of the new play Chasing the River by Jean Dobie Giebel. Directed by Illana Stein, the six-member cast will feature Tony Carlin, Aaron Costa Ganis, Annie Golden, Deborah Rayne, Chet Siegel, and Wendy Rich Stetson. The Bay Area theater community will honor the life and career of theatrical legend and San Francisco local treasure, Carol Channing, with the dimming of the lights on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:45 p.m. PST for one minute. This will echo Wednesday's dimming of the lights of Broadway theaters in New York. American Conservatory Theater, Curran, Feinstein's at the Nikko, and Lowell High School will participate, and with Theatre Bay Area and its 300 theater company members, other theaters throughout the Bay Area will pay tribute to Channing throughout the day, shining a light on her marque performances over social media.

The 2019 Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, New York's all-Irish theatre festival and the world's only festival devoted exclusively to producing the plays of contemporary Irish playwrights from around the world, settles in to its new January time slot, running three weeks from January 9 to 28. A total 17 events, including six mainstage productions from Belfast, Derry, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Queens and Manhattan, will be seen in and out of competition. Among the productions, five are US premieres; one is a world premiere. 15 contemporary Irish writers are represented with work in performance.
