Director Zi Alikhan has gifted Chicago audiences with a production of THE BAND'S VISIT whose talent and creative execution equal---and may even exceed---those of the Broadway and touring productions. It runs through March 17 at Writers Theatre in Glencoe.
And Valdo’s Marca Oro Prosecco DOC Brut with an accessible suggested retail price of $13.99 is surely an elegant representation of the denomination.

What did our critic think of ROMEO AND JULIET AT SYNETIC THEATER at Synetic Theater?
Moonstone’s THE SOUND INSIDE is a well-constructed piece of theatre but has a story that simply did not resonate. Rapp’s story left me flat. Walking away from the theatre, and reflecting on the overall production, I wanted to like THE SOUND INSIDE more than I did.
Despite the criticism of the overall story, I still suggest seeing this production for a few reasons. First, Ryan Lawson-Maeske's performance. His enigmatic Christoper is gripping. Second, Mary Louise Parker won the Tony Award for her portrayal as Bella, so there is a strong likelihood that audiences may disagree with this assessment of the script. Finally, it is a polished production with strong collaboration between the director, his actors, and the technical crew.
The script is rich with scientific banter, repetitive and very talky. The running time with intermission exceeds 2-½ hours but the show flies by thanks to Salomon’s brisk direction and the tremendous performances of the three actors. Do not dissuade yourself from seeing this production based on the script’s complexities. This is a wonderful production with interesting characters that provides a different perspective to the nuclear arms race during World War II.
BroadwayWorld has learned that despite listings on multiple national chains' websites including AMC, Regal, and via Fandango - the Ragtime Reunion Concert recording will not be released in movie theaters on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024.
What did our critic think of BRITISH ICONS at San Francisco Ballet? BroadwayWorld reviews San Francisco Ballet's 'British Icons,' an immensely rewarding program running through February 15th
Several things rush to mind in the thoughts of the prolific theatre-goer when a Neil Simon production is promised: smart & funny being chiefly amongst them. Both are on tap at Desert Theatreworks in their current production of Simon’s “Plaza Suite”. A collection of three vignette scenes connected only by locale, Room 719 of Manhattan’s once opulent Plaza Hotel, and the ramifications of love (gaining it, losing it and being frankly terrified by it).
Broadway to the Rescue goes back to its roots with THE BIG FAT BROADWAY SHOW at the El Portal Theatre. See who is starring and learn how to purchase tickets.
What did our critic think of JERSEY BOYS at Queensland Performing Arts Centre? Before there was Beggin' by Måneskin and Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Andy Williams, there was Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, which is the source for the hit Jukebox Musical: Jersey Boys!
Brooklyn's Psymon Spine has just unveiled their latest single, 'Bored of Guitar,' offering another glimpse into their upcoming album, Head Body Connector. The video for “Bored of Guitar” was directed by Max Mainwood. Check out upcoming tour dates!
Matthew Bourne has certainly crafted a “New Adventure” under the title Romeo and Juliet. Purists may come up empty-handed if they mine the kaleidoscopic geometry of the mesmerizing opening sequence for any semblance of “Two households, both alike in dignity”.
The musical Cabaret is a classic for many reasons, and no matter who produces it the dark foreboding story never fails to pack a gut punch. The impactful way Cabaret shows the divide of a country, the hate crimes of anti-Semitism and neo-Nazi white supremacy, and the meteoric rise of one of the most brutal dictators in world history. In song and dance it is a perfect lesson of “those who forget the past tend to repeat it”.
As Purlie Victorious enters its final weekend on Broadway, BroadwayWorld is very excited to share an exclusive essay written by Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee's daughter, Hasna Muhammad, who played a key role in getting this landmark play back on Broadway.
What is classic for some feels dated to others. Those who were horrified by Daniel Fish’s starkly stripped back version of Oklahoma! should rush to the Dominion Theatre for something much more traditional. After a UK tour, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I settles in for a brief six week run.
Whether you live, work, or visit Hoboken, dinner at Halifax is a must! The food is a gourmand’s dream and the stylish, beautifully appointed modern dining room has a full sweeping view of Manhattan.
NIGHT SONGS AT CONEY ISLAND a stunning spectacle of sight and sound.
Recorded on the summer solstice in June 2022, The Fate of the Tenor documents Sun's working band with bassist Walter Stinson and drummer Matt Honor–a true rarity in modern jazz–on a particularly good night during his residency at Lowlands Bar, where he has performed every Tuesday since September 2021 and continues to perform weekly in 2024.
Folkies, even the ones with a good dose of country in their sound, tend to create quiet, introspective songs that are designed to pack a subtle but no less potent punch. Revered, multi-talented folk-Americana artist Will Kimbrough doesn't quite fit that mold, and it is most evident on the 11 tracks that comprise For the Life of Me.
Broadwayworld had the pleasure of interviewing Thibault Dubreuil of Eli's Table on the Upper East Side about his career for our “Meet the Sommelier” feature.
Following two sold out shows in Dublin, In Conversation will see Louise McSharry bring her warm, frank, and open interview style to The Everyman's stage.
STOMP, the international percussion sensation, is coming to The Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock, TX in February 2024. Presented by The American Theatre Guild, don't miss this incredible show!
Having already teased the album with “Boys,” say they share a new taste of Head Body Connector with the irreverent “Wizard Acid,” a woozy disco track loaded with catchy synths. The track premiered via Flood Magazine who note, “‘Wizard Acid' (pairs) a tight, funky nu-disco instrumental with lyrics about coming apart at the seams.”
This cast is professional grade. As an ensemble, they are tight and respond well with each other. I loved watching them all interact and go through the scenes. They kept the dialogue flowing and comical.
