by Greer Firestone - Apr 28, 2023

What dAisle Say was a trifle surprised at the first dialogue interchange of I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, the current production at Candlelight. It was risqué, somewhat risk-taking from the norm, owing to the senior citizen demographics of their audience.id our critic think of I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE at Candlelight Music Theatre?

Review: POOR YELLA REDNECKS, VIETGONE 2 at A.C.T. Strand
by Steve Murray - Apr 14, 2023

What did our critic think of POOR YELLA REDNECKS, VIETGONE 2 at A.C.T. Strand? Oh boy! The second installment of Qui Nguyen's autobiographical Vietgone trilogy is just as exciting, creative, and rewarding as the original produced by A.C.T five years ago. Returning director Jaime Castañeda and composer Shammy Dee return to helm the production and realize Nguyen's vision of his family life in 1970's Midwest USA after leaving war-torn Saigon. Full of rap beats, slo-mo martial arts, sarcasm and romance, Poor Yella Rednecks is a sure-fire hit.

Do you remember what it was like to be 17? Excited, angsty, passionate, confused, and hopeful all at once. And maybe you fell in love for the first time with someone who was oh-so-wrong but also perhaps oh-so-right. If any of that sounds familiar, and especially if you happened to be a teenager in the 90s, Jessica Wallenfels’ GREAT WIDE OPEN should be on your radar.

OKLAHOMA! tells a story of a community banding together against an outsider, and the frontier life that shaped America.
