Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced the 17 writers and 8 new musicals selected for the fifth summer of weeklong retreats. For eight consecutive weeks beginning July 5th, each writing team will have a residency in Rhinebeck, New York. Writers are provided a private home, transportation, food, and a $400 stipend. This year's writers include Obie winner Kirsten Childs, Tony nominee Elizabeth Davis, and 2015 Jonathan Larson award-winners Charlie Sohne, Tim Rosser, and Sam Willmott, who also just won the Kleban Prize.  (more...)

New York's funniest show Celebrity Autobiography has added Brooke Shields, Jackie Hoffman, SNL's Sasheer Zamata and a show on June 8 at 7pm at The Triad (Stage 72 -- 158 West 72nd Street) following its scheduled shows on 6/1 at 7pm and 6/6 at 9:30pm which will celebrate Broadway and the upcoming Tony Awards. In June the production will also welcome familiar faces of Broadway, Film & TV  including Tony Award-winner Roger Bart (You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Producers), Tony Award-nominee Mario Cantone (Laugh Whore, Assassins, Sex and the City), Oscar-nominee Carol Kane (Broadway in Wicked, Harvey), Rachel Dratch (SNL), Tate Donovan (Broadway in Amy's View, Good People, TV's 24, Damages), comedy legend and Tony Award-winner Alan Zweibel (Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me),  Tim Kazurinsky (SNL, Police Academy,  Broadway's An Act of God) and Drama Desk-winners Eugene Pack & Dayle Reyfel. The Visit, the final musical ever by legendary Tony Award-winning duo John Kander and Fred Ebb, celebrated its opening last night, April 23, 2015 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street). The cast is led by Tony Award winners Chita Rivera as Claire Zachannassian and Roger Rees as Anton Schell, with George Abud as Karl, Jason Danieley as Frederich Kuhn, Matthew Demingas Louis Perch, Diana Dimarzio as Annie Dummermut, Tony Award nominee David Garrison as Peter Dummermut, Rick Holmes as Father Josef, Tom Nelis as Rudi, Chris Newcomer as Jacob Chicken,Mary Beth Peil as Matilde Schell, Aaron Ramey as Otto Hahnke, Elena Shadow as Ottilie, Timothy Shew as Hans Nusselin, with John Riddle and Michelle Veintimilla. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents a new Broadway production of the classic musical On the Twentieth Century starring Tony & Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, Golden Globe, SAG Award winner & Tony nominee Peter Gallagher, Tony nominee Andy Karl, Mark Linn-Baker, Tony winner Michael McGrath and Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson. On the Twentieth Century is choreographed by Tony winner Warren Carlyle and directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis, and features music by Cy Coleman, and book & lyrics by Betty ComdenandAdolph Green. On the Twentieth Century is based on plays by Ben Hecht, Charles MacArthur & Bruce Millholland. The original Broadway production was directed by Harold Prince.
