'Good News! She's Dead!!' Just after the curtain opens, those are the first lyrics that jump out at the audience, as the, 'Citizens Of Oz.' decked out in various shades of green, including emerald, rush onto the stage to celebrate the death of the 'Wicked Old Witch Of The West!' Oh how little 'They' know. And what I mean by 'They,' is not only the people of Oz, but the audience as well. By the time the first song has ended to thunderous applause, nothing in the world we know about Oz has changed. I smile as I watch from the back of the House, and I know that, for about the next 2 hours, the audience will find that the Land of Oz, they thought they knew, will change, 'for good.' (more...)

Baltimore TheatreWorks' 41N 50W Makes UK Premiere at Southampton's SeaCity Museum, Now thru April 19

After an initial workshop showcase at the new St. James Theatre in London and recent reading at Ken Davenport Studios in New York, which featured Tony Award nominated actress Anita Gillette, 41N 50W makes a 10 performance UK premiere at Southampton's SeaCity Museum. This new play written by Robert Neal Marshall and produced by Baltimore TheatreWorks is being presented within walking distance from where TITANIC set sail in 1912. Performances run today, April 10th - 19th at 7:30pm. A special opening night event will celebrate SeaCity museum's 2nd birthday with a portion of the evening's proceeds donated to a maritime charity. The April 14th performance will be followed by a memorial service in remembrance of souls lost on TITANIC. The British Titanic Society will also host an invited performance of the play as part of their 2014 Convention. (more...)

The Theater Project Announces 20th Anniversary Gala, 5/15

On Thursday, May 15th devoted theater lovers will celebrate two decades of the best in contemporary theater in New Jersey. The 20th Anniversary Gala for The Theater Project, a professional theater company, will be held at the Wilshire Grand in West Orange. The Bridges of Madison County, the new musical based on the best selling novel by Robert James Waller, opened last night, February 20, 2014, at 8:00 PM at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Four-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara reunites with Bartlett Sher, the Tony- winning director of South Pacific and The Light in the Piazza, for a stunning new musical by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of Marsha Norman and Jason Robert Brown.
