On Friday, May 20, 2022, one hour before the Drama League Awards, Board President Bonnie Comley, Kirk Iwanowski, Mary Jain, and the Board Hosted a VIP Reception at the Drama League Awards right next to the Ziegfeld Ballroom. While the Drama League Distinguished Performance nominees were lining up for the dais, a cocktail party was in full swing in the adjacent ballroom.

While theaters on Broadway and across the country were forced into darkness because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS supporters shined brightly, fueling $13,024,000 in grants to The Actors Fund and 424 other social services agencies across the country during fiscal year 2021, which ends September 30.

New nonprofit Places Please Project has partnered with The Actors Fund to provide financial assistance to theater workers who left New York during the COVID pandemic and now need to return so they can go back to work.
