    ITASCA, IL - A new US Government Accountability Office (GAO) report has found waste in software spending widespread across the federal government due to lack of coherent and proactive software license management policies. According to Flexera Software, the global expert on Software License Optimization, the US government wastes approximately $2 billion per year, or 25 percent of its annual $8 billion software budget, on shelfware (unused software), under-utilized software, and non-compliant overuse, which subjects it to software vendor 'true-up' penalties.     New British Musical BEST OF FRIENDS Gets London Premiere

    New British musical BEST OF FRIENDS, with book, music and lyrics by Nick Fogarty, will finally get its London premiere at the Landor Theatre, directed by the venue's artistic director, Robert McWhir, from Wednesday 23 April. Best of Friends was due in London last summer as The Golden Voice, starring Darren Day. Scheduled to open at the Arts Theatre, it was delayed multiple times before it was eventually cancelled. Actors' union Equity then launched legal action in an attempt to claim back unpaid cast wages. (more...)

    Companies Often Pay Unbudgeted Software License True-Up Fees in Excess of $1 Million According to Flexera Software/IDC Survey

    ITASCA, IL - CFO's are now on notice most enterprises are 'accidental software pirates' and face frequent, unbudgeted software license true-up bills from their vendors often to the tune of millions of dollars annually. This is the conclusion of a new Flexera Software 2013-14 Key Trends in Software Pricing & Licensing Report, prepared jointly with IDC, the ninth annual assessment of key issues and trends on the minds of software vendors, intelligent device manufacturers, and enterprise IT executives and managers. The report reveals among other things that 85% of organizations are out of compliance with their software license agreements, 63% were audited by their software vendors in the last 18-24 months (58% by Microsoft, the most aggressive auditor), and 56% were handed true-up bills (21% for a million dollars or more). He will develop his new play ADAM & YOSHI. Cavanaugh is the first out-of-state playwright to attend the program for a second time. In 2010, the Project developed his play BEHOLD, which explores what happens to a family when it loses a child in a school shooting caused by bullying. BEHOLD is now being considered for an Off-Broadway production in New York City and a TV movie with major cable networks in Los Angeles. (more...)

    New Musical THE GOLDEN VOICE Opens Tonight

    Due to investment money from China being tied up in international banking red tape, there was a delay to the opening of THE GOLDEN VOICE, a new British musical by singer-songwriter Nick Fogarty. The musical was originally planned to preview from Wednesday 12 June, and open on 19 June, but will now open at the Arts Theatre tonight, 26 July, previewing from 17 July. The limited season is still due to end on Saturday 31 August. (more...)
