The Old Globe invites your participation and coverage as it begins presenting shows through an exciting new producing platform, Globe for All. This free-of-charge tour of a professional production of Shakespeare will allow the theatre to serve more communities throughout San Diego by collaborating with a diverse range of local organizations. Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein directs the first production, Shakespeare's fascinating romance All's Well That Ends Well. He has cast local professional actors, including recent graduates of the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program. The first Globe for All free Shakespeare tour will begin October 28 and will culminate in three low-cost performances on November 7 to 9 in the Globe's Hattox Hall, part of the Karen and Donald Cohn Education Center in the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. The Old Globe will present a one-night-only event, Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Nathan Englander, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. This special discussion will reunite Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and award-winning playwright and novelist Nathan Englander, whose play The Twenty-seventh Man, about a group of writers imprisoned in Soviet Russia under mysterious circumstances, makes its West Coast premiere at The Old Globe in February, directed once again by Edelstein. The event will explore the evolution of the play; its fascinating historical setting; Englander's work in fiction versus theatre; and literature's place in modern American culture. (more...)

The Old Globe today announced the creation of an exciting new producing platform, Globe for All. The Old Globe today announced it will present two Shakespeare-themed events. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Today, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard.
