New Musical ATOMIC to Open Off-Broadway this Summer at Acorn Theatre

This summer, after a wildly successful engagement in Sydney, Australia, Atomic, the exhilarating and provocative new musical based on the creation of the atomic bomb, will make its highly anticipated U.S. premiere with a strictly limited 8-week Off-Broadway engagement from June 26 - August 16 at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). The official opening is set for Sunday, July 13. With book & lyrics by Danny Ginges and Gregory Bonsignore, and music & lyrics by Philip Foxman, Atomic is choreographed by Dean Walsh and directed by Damien Gray. Broadway fans will be treated to an intimate performance by stars of Tony Award winning productions as 42West and its new Producing Artistic Director, Jacob Langfelder launch a Broadway PoPuP Series sponsored by Yamaha, beginning today, April 4 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. The monthly series at 42West (514 W. 42nd Street) will feature an inexpensive ticket to surprise PoPuP performances by some of Broadway's best. DJs Andrew Andrew (Girls, Gossip Girl), Emmy Award-winning composer Lance Horne, Trapper Felides (Next Big Thing) and LED Intergalactic Unicorns will host the inaugural evening. (more...)

NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, named one of the Best Musicals of 2013 by The New York Times and one of Time Magazine's Top 10 Musicals of 2013, will close today at Kazino (45th Street between Times Square and 8th Avenue). In addition, today is the final day to give to the Kickstarter that was set up to help fund the filming of the show. The current tally, as of 8:30am, is 235 backers, who have pledged $36,899 of the $250,000 goal, with 15 hours to go. (more...)

Entertainment Weekly writes that the producers of off-Broadway's NATASHA, PIERRE AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 are planning a film adaptation of the interactive, operatic stage spectacle and will launch a Kickstarter campaign this coming Tuesday, February 11, to help fund the venture.
