World Premiere of LAUGHS IN SPANISH & More Announced for DCPA Theatre Company 2022/23 Season

The new Theatre Company season kicks off performances on September 9 and will feature seven mainstage productions including the musical The Color Purple, William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and a new production of the audience-favorite The 39 Steps.

The musical is based on former Lumineers member Neyla Pekarek's first solo album, Rattlesnake, which features songs inspired by the life of Colorado's own 'Rattlesnake Kate' Slaughterback. Nearly 100 years ago, Kate killed around 140 rattlesnakes mostly using a wooden sign she found after her rifle ran out of ammunition, not only saving herself but also her 3-year-old son and their horse, Brownie.

Artistic Director Chris Coleman has announced the 2020/21 season of the DCPA Theatre Company, the producing regional theatre arm of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA). The new season kicks off performances on September 18 and will feature nine mainstage productions including the world premiere of the musical Rattlesnake Kate by Colorado's own Neyla Pekarek, former member of the Grammy-nominated folk band The Lumineers, the company's first Edward Albee production in over 20 years, a fresh new adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma and the return of A Christmas Carol.
