The Center for Popular Democracy will hold its New York City gala tonight to recognize those who have advanced the cause of economic and social justice over the past year, including New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito; Democracy Alliance President Gara LaMarche; Bill Samuels, Founder and Chairman of Effective NY; civil rights attorney Maya Harris; and New School Senior Vice President for Social Justice Maya Wiley.

Signature Theatre is presenting Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks' The Red Letter Plays: f**king A & In the Blood. This is the first time these acclaimed plays will be presented together; they will run simultaneously at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). These two plays mark the final productions of Parks' Signature Residency One.

On Sunday, August 13, the cast of Broadway's Hamilton gathered atop the Knickerbocker Hotel in Times Square to toast Brandon Victor Dixon, the second actor to star as 'Aaron Burr' in the Broadway smash hit, after he played his last performance at the Richard Rogers Theater. Tony Award nominee Daniel Breaker (PASSING STRANGE) will join the Broadway cast of the musical HAMILTON as Aaron Burr starting August 29, and Montego Glover, a Tony nominee for her performance in MEMPHIS, will join the Chicago company of HAMILTON in the role of Angelica Schuyler starting in early September, it is announced by Jeffrey Seller, producer of HAMILTON.  

Casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder) productions of Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks' The Red Letter Plays: f**king A & In the Blood. This is the first time these acclaimed plays will be presented together; they will run simultaneously at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). These two plays mark the final productions of Parks' Signature Residency One. All tickets for the initial runs of the productions are $30 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access.

Just last night, New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2017 Spring Gala celebrated partnerships with honorees Dartmouth College, whose residency partnership with NYTW spans a quarter of a century; along with longtime NYTW Usual Suspect and Tony Award-nominated Director Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, War Paint), who was an inaugural member of NYTW's 'New Directors Project' in 1984 and rose to prominence with his direction of Machinal at the Public and Rent at NYTW.
