Mo McRae to Direct A LOT OF NOTHING with David Oyelowo Executive Producing

Actor Mo McRae (Wild, Den of Thieves) will make his directorial debut at the helm of the upcoming darkly comedic thriller A LOT OF NOTHING. Producers include Inny Clemons, McRae, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sarah Kelly Kaplan, Anonymous Content, Mansa Productions founder Kellon Akeem and Jason Tamasco on behalf of Bad Idea. Golden Globe-nominated actor David Oyelowo will serve as an executive producer for the project along with Mansa Production's Yandy Smith, Kim Hodgert and Nina Soriano on behalf of Anonymous Content as well as Zak Kristofek for Bad Idea and Ethan Lazar. Leslie Woo is currently casting the project, which is set to begin shooting principal photography this spring.

Apple today announced 'Home Before Dark,' a dramatic mystery series inspired by the reporting of young investigative journalist Hilde Lysiak, and directed and executive produced by Jon M. Chu, has been renewed for a second season. The series will premiere its first three episodes Friday, April 3 exclusively on Apple TV+, and new episodes will premiere weekly thereafter every Friday.

Apple today announced 'Defending Jacob,' a gripping, character-driven thriller based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by William Landay, will premiere its first three episodes exclusively on Apple TV+ starting Friday, April 24, and new episodes will premiere weekly thereafter every Friday.

Amazon Studios today announced the first group of series regulars set to star in the new Amazon Original series based on stories from the iconic 'The Lord of the Rings' novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. Newly revealed cast members including Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman. Production will begin in February.

Alan Cumming & Rosario Dawson Star in BRIARPATCH on USA Network

This winter, USA Network will unveil a night of murder, mystery and manipulation. On February 6, the close-ended 10-episode anthology series BRIARPATCH -- starring Rosario Dawson -- debuts at 10/9c. Leading the night is the return of the limited series, THE SINNER, starring Bill Pullman, Matt Bomer and Chris Messina, which returns at 9/8c for a new 8-episode chapter.

Announced today are the eight members of the second class of the Momentum Fellowship, a full-year program of deep, customized creative and professional support for writers, directors, and producers from underrepresented communities who are poised to take the next step in their careers, working across documentary and feature filmmaking, and episodic content. Sundance Institute also announced the four awardees of the inaugural Launch Grant Fund, a new opportunity for emerging filmmakers from underrepresented communities launching their first feature film.

DIRECTV Acquires North American Rights to HUMAN CAPITAL With Marisa Tomei & Liev Schreiber

Vertical Entertainment and DIRECTV have acquired the North American distribution rights to Human Capital following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Starring Oscar-award winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Big Short), Liev Schreiber (Spotlight, a?oeRay Donovana??), Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven, Blue Jasmine), and Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Once Upon A Timea??in Hollywood), the film focuses on the lives of two families from different socio-economic backgrounds who collide when their children begin a relationship that leads to a tragic accident. Also starring Aasif Mandvi (Million Dollar Arm, Margin Call) and Alex Wolff (Hereditary, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle). The release is planned for Q2 2020.

Darren Star's Paramount Network Series EMILY IN PARIS Rounds Out Cast

French actors Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Camille Razat and Bruno Gouery have been cast as series regulars in Darren Star's newest scripted series, Emily in Paris, starring Golden Globe-nominated Lily Collins. Kate Walsh (The Umbrella Academy, 13 Reasons Why, Girls Trip and Grey's Anatomy), in a recurring role, will play Emily's (Collins) co-worker and mentor who still lives in Chicago. William Abadie and Arnaud Viard also join the cast in recurring roles. Previously announced Tony Award-nominated actress, Ashley Park, rounds out the list of series regulars in the 10-episode half-hour dramedy. The Paramount Network series is currently in production in Paris, France.

Paramount Network Greenlights SEXY BEAST

Paramount Network today ordered a 10-episode first season of Sexy Beast, a series adaptation from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content based on the critically-acclaimed and award-winning feature film. Michael Caleo (The Sopranos) is set to write and executive produce the series. Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) is directing and executive producing through her company, Familystyle, which is also comprised of Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (Destroyer), who will also serve as executive producers on the show. Also serving as executive producers are Louis Mellis and David Scinto, the original screenwriters of the film Sexy Beast.

BET Networks Names Devin Griffin General Manager of BET+

BET Networks announced that Devin Griffin joins the company as General Manager, BET+. The subscription video-on-demand service focused on the African American audience, BET+, will feature more than 1,000 hours of premium content including exclusive new original programming and fan-favorite series, movies, and specials from BET Networks, world-renowned creator Tyler Perry, and a host of leading African American content creators. Griffin will report to Scott Mills, President of BET Networks. Griffin will be based in Los Angeles. In his role, Griffin will manage the BET+ P&L and oversee business strategy & operations, including original programming, content acquisitions, marketing, distribution, planning and analysis.

Netflix announced today that Academy Award Winner George Clooney is in pre-production on an untitled feature project for Netflix that he will direct and star in. Mark L. Smith adapted the screenplay from the novel Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton. Smokehouse Pictures' Grant Heslov (Academy Award Winner) and Clooney will produce alongside Anonymous Content and Syndicate Entertainment, who sourced the material.

Amazon Studios announced today that Lili Reinhart (Riverdale) will star in writer/director Richard Tanne's coming-of-age drama and romance film, Chemical Hearts. Based on the beloved novel Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland, the film is currently shooting in New Jersey. Chemical Hearts is an Amazon Original produced for Amazon Prime Video. Producers are Page Fifty-Four's Alex Saks (The Florida Project, Book Club) and Tanne, and the film is executive produced by Jamin O'Brien (Eighth Grade) and Reinhart, in her first executive producer role.
