Origin 1st Irish Theatre Festival Will Run From January 7 to February 3, 2020

The month-long Origin 1st Irish Theatre Festival, the world's only festival devoted to producing the plays of contemporary Irish playwrights from around the world, runs four weeks from January 7 to February 3, 2020. A total 15 events, including seven mainstage productions from Belfast, Dublin, Wexford, and Manhattan and Queens, will be seen in- and out-of-competition. Among the productions, three are American premieres; two are world premieres. 15 contemporary Irish writers are represented with work in the Festival.

Syracuse Stage begins 2016 with an irreverent comedy Stupid F***ing Bird, a contemporary mash-up of Anton Chekhov's modern classic The Seagull. Irish Repertory Theatre will continue its current season with a revival of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, The 1946 Live Radio Play, adapted by Anthony E. Palermo from the screenplay by Francis Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra and Jo Swerling. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, The 1946 Live Radio Play premiered last year at the Irish Repertory Theatre with a production directed by Charlotte Moore (JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, DANCING AT LUGHNASA). Once again directed by Ms. Moore, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, The 1946 Live Radio Play will begin previews today, December 4th and will play through Sunday, December 29th in The Irish Repertory Theatre's W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). The official press opening is Tuesday, December 10th.
