THE DANISH GIRL's Alicia Vikander has won the 2016 Academy Award for Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. The actress plays Gerda, a painter in the 1920s who wrestles with her course of action when her husband reveals his desire to live as a woman. This is her first Academy Award nomination.
