Billy Porter, 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Kinky Boots) surprised students of Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive Session One with his appearance on July 25th. Porter entertained the students with tales of his experiences. In addition, he participated in a Q&A, answering student's questions and providing advice for young performers. Porter's previous Broadway credits include the 1994 revival of Grease (Teen Angel) and Songs for a New World. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University College of Fine Arts, Porter additionally directs, writes, choreographs, and teaches to continue to share his talents with future stars.

Broadway Artists Alliance, founded with the goal of providing professional-level training to talented young artists, enlists the services of Broadway performers, Tony Award winners, and top industry professionals. Students enjoy a wide range of experiences in vocal training, scene study, and various types of dance among the many offerings. BAA offers three Summer Intensive Sessions and one Alumni Only Session with ages ranging from 8 to 21.

The Broadway Artists Alliance master class series will continue with a Last Five Years Master Class (September 22nd), and a New Composers Master Class (November 17th).
