Friday, June 20th, 2014 Damn The Light Promotions, a nightlife based production and promotion company founded by Mike Greco and MaryAnne Piccolo, is back with their monthly tribute event "Midnight Special" returning to the infamous lower eastside rock and roll club The Delancey. This all-star evening will showcase some of NYC's premiere vocalists from both the downtown rock-and-roll scene and theatre community.

For three decades AC/DC has reigned as one of the best loved and hardest-rocking bands in the world. Featuring guitarist Angus Young as their visual symbok and musical fireband, they grew from humble origins in Australia to become an arena-filling phenomenon with worldwide popularity. They did so without gimmickry, except for Angus' schoolboy uniform, which became mandatory stage attire. From the beginning they have been a straight-ahead, no-frills rock and roll band that aimed for the gut.

Though their choruses were as infectious as anything on radio, AC/DC were fundamentally the antithesis of a Top Forty band. Thus, they've cracked the U.S. singles charts only three times: "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Back in Black," and "Moneytalks." Their albums, on the other hand, have all gone gold or platinum. Thirty years on, AC/DC continues to give the fans what they want. Through it all, they've never lost the common touch- the sense that the band and their audience were interchangable, and that both were celebrating the joyful jolt of electricity provided by good, hard, uncompromising rock and roll.

This month's performers include Shannon Conley, Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Shair Gorgiiss, Carleigh Jade, Stinks KC, Briana Layon, Erica Livingston, MaryAnne Piccolo, and Danielle Tyler. The evening will be under the musical direction of Mike Greco Bass. The full band line up will include Kent Thompson (guitar), Jan Tilley (guitar), and Joe DiBella (drums). Jennie Vee is slated as the opening act.

Doors are at 10pm with a $10 entry. The Delancey is located on the North East side of Delancey Street between Clinton and Attorney, at the base of the Williamsburg bridge. For more please call (212) 254-9920.
