The HAMILTON Original Cast Recording has hit the Billboard Top 10 this week, making it one of only three Broadway cast recordings to do so in the last 50 years. The album hit the No. 3 spot on the weekly list, making it the highest-charting cast recording in five years, since THE BOOK OF MORMON also hit No. 3. Prior to that, the 1969 cast recording from Broadway's HAIR spent 13 weeks at No. 1. The hip hop musical took home 11 Tony Awards during the June 12th ceremony, including one for Best Musical.

As of last week, the LP was number 1 on both iTunes and Amazon.com and is setting the record for best selling ever Broadway show CD and download. In addition, the title track has already been streamed over 10 million times on Spotify. The site reports that unofficially, the number of times the top 10 Hamilton tracks have been streamed is approaching 75 million times.

The two-disc set was released on September 25, 2015 and has already set multiple records, placing among the top 20 best-selling cast albums of the last 25 years and the biggest selling cast album in over 10 years. In addition, the album, which debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200, was the highest debut for a cast album since 1961 and has enjoyed a spot in the top 20 for the last 13 weeks. In May, the recording was officially platinum certified, meaning it had sold in excess of one million units.
