EDINBURGH 2023: Review: THE INVISIBLE MAN, TheSpace On The Mile
by Mark Carnochan -

A farcical retelling of a classic tale that leaves you wondering why.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: SUSAN RIDDELL: WONDER WOMAN, Gilded Balloon
by Natalie O'Donoghue -

Susan doesn't think she's 'Wonder Woman' in the traditional sense, more that she wonders what she's doing with her life. Join her as she performs a mix of stand-up and filmed sketches tackling hard-hitting topics like Turkey teeth and air fryers.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: CHRISSIE & THE SKIDDLE WITCH: A CLIMATE CHANGE MUSICAL, Greenside @ Riddle's Court
by Fiona Scott -

Geologise Theatre brings its environment-focussed musical to the Edinburgh Fringe. Written by Roberta Wilkinson and Matthew Kemp, the show is inspired by conversations with climate researchers and boasts a second-hand set, props and costumes, harmonised with hues of blues and yellows against a painted backdrop of a coastline.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: SH!T-FACED SHAKESPEARE®: ROMEO AND JULIET, Pleasance At EICC, Pentland Theatre
by Kat Mokrynski -

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet is entertaining, but it is just not as funny as it could be. The actors are clearly talented and have the ability to perform straight Shakespeare as well as comedy, but simply splitting the show between Shakespeare and slapstick does not work.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: LARRY OWENS LIVE, Assembly Room, Upstairs
by Kat Mokrynski -

Larry Owens Live is a powerful show that will have you in awe of Owens’s talent and clamouring for more. It is difficult to believe that this is a Fringe debut for Owens - It seems like he has been doing this for years, and I hope we get to see him for many more years to come.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: SHANE DANIEL BYRNE: BUT HE'S GAY, Gilded Balloon
by Natalie O'Donoghue -

But he's gay... The award-winning Shane Daniel Byrne is Irish comedy's new wonderkid (in his mid-30s). Back in Edinburgh for the first time after winning second place at So you Think You're Funny 2019. Once considered an exciting talent of contemporary performance art in Dublin he messed that up and now he's a comedian.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: SUNSHINE ON LEITH, Assembly Rooms, Bijou
by L Gourley -

Captivate Theatre’s production of Sunshine on Leith walks the line between emotional and funny to near-perfection, providing an endlessly entertaining performance of this much-loved show. The whole cast brings a balanced performance throughout; one that is theatrical and fun at the show’s highs, yet capable of capturing deep emotion in its heavier moments.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: SUSIE MCCABE: FEMME FATALITY, Assembly George Square Studios
by L Gourley -

Femme Fatality is a larger-than-life hour of stand-up that guarantees non-stop laughs from start to finish, with McCabe’s witty dry humour making comedy look as easy as putting up a shelf (just don’t ask a man to do it).

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: FRANKENSTEIN, TheSpace @ Venue 45
by Mark Carnochan -

This stripped back production of Frankenstein plays host to some inventive use of lighting and some great performances.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: #SINCE1994, Taiwan Season, Assembly Roxy
by Kit Bromovsky -

Led by all woman artists, Eye Catching Circus’ #Since1994 is not just a highly skilled display of circus acts but a message much deeper. What does It mean to be a woman and how does one navigate this in a modern society overflowing with expectation?

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: CAROLINE RHEA: I IDENTIFY AS A WITCH, Gilded Balloon
by Natalie O'Donoghue -

Hi, it's me, Caroline Rhea. I'm thrilled to return to Scotland, my part-time childhood home, and not just because it's the only place you can get tablet and no salad. Yes, you know me as Aunt Hilda on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and I've been a stand-up comedian for 34 years. I'm here to do my new show, I Identify as a Witch, because at this point I seriously do, so does my 14-year-old daughter. My new show covers everything from parenting a teenager to dating (it's super fun).

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: KATY BERRY: DIAMOND GODDESS CRYSTAL PUSSY, Just The Tonic
by Natalie O'Donoghue -

Katy Berry grew up on Long Island, the land of Billy Joel and baked clams, but she never fit in. After a staggering revelation that her mom slept with Poseidon in the 80s, it finally makes sense: she's been a demigoddess all along! Now Katy's done doing human shit and out to help other repressed goddesses unleash their power.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: VANYA IS ALIVE, @theSpace, Symposium Hall
by Kit Bromovsky -

Vanya is Alive is inspired by letters from the frontline of the Second World War written by Natalia Lizorkina and performed by Nikolai Mulakov; both from Russia and who are currently in exile due to their anti-war positions. This brave and momentous play gives us a glimpse into the life of people who breach the ‘code of silence’ in Russia.

by Mark Carnochan -

Frank Skinner presents a simple hour of comedy that will have fans of his work roaring with laughter.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: PITCH, Pleasance Courtyard, Pleasance Above
by Kat Mokrynski -

Pitch is an interesting and heartfelt show that illustrates the connections that sports like football can create in the queer community. The actors are passionate and joyfully portray queer characters who are brought together through the game.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: LACHLAN WERNER – VOICES OF EVIL, Pleasance Courtyard, The Cellar
by Kat Mokrynski -

The concept of Lachlan Werner - Voices of Evil is a surprisingly simple one. Brew is a small witch always accompanied by Lachy, “her poof.” Together, they are going to perform a ritualistic sacrifice, in which Lachy definitely won’t be killed as the virgin sacrifice.

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: KING OF MORE: #FOMO CLINIC, BlundaGardens Magical SpiegelYurt

King of More: #FOMO Clinic is a heartwarming show that will bring you a ridiculous amount of joy. The show is truly what you make of it, so why not have some fun? You only live once, so #JOLIF without fear!

EDINBURGH 2023: Review: ROGER MCGOUGH'S MONEY-GO-ROUND, Assembly Rooms
by Christiana Rose -

Money-Go-Round is based on the classic story of The Wind in the Willows, with the added dimension of being centred around the perils of a gold coin- which is representative of cyclical wealth.

Ruby McCollister brandishes a stage presence and sense of humour that, for the right audience, is a blast to witness.
