Montserrat Caballé - the Grande Dame of the Opera, the star, the master of the soprano. In April 2013, she graced Lucerne with a memorable recital. She will be accompanied by Manuel Burgueras on the wing.
Maria Callas as their only worthy successor chosen, is the most important opera singer of the present long Montserrat Caballé. As a diva in the best sense of the word, the Catalan enjoys a wide public sympathy thanks to its wonderfully cheerful and heartwarming way.
Her vocal quality is enormous, over 90 stage roles are in her repertoire. She sang all the great roles of the standard repertoire. Of "Luisa Miller" and "Salome", "Pamina" until "Isolde". Their collaboration with Freddie Mercury, the late singer of the rock group Queen, remains unforgotten. So she could accept already numerous awards for her work, among others the "Doña Isabel la Católica", the highest title, the Spanish Government awards. In addition, she was appointed to the Honorary Ambassador of the United Nations, as well as the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO. Despite their huge success and her impressive life story she received is always a modesty, reflecting the pure love of music.
