Due to the high audience demand, Florida Studio Theatre adds three more 9pm performances to the hit cabaret show, YESTERDAY, and extends its third Winter Mainstage show, OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. Additional shows of Yesterday will be held on March 8 at 9pm, March 22 at 9pm, and April 5 at 9pm. OUTSIDE MULLINGAR is now held over through April 2. Tickets may be purchased online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, by phone at (941) 366-9000, or by visiting the Box Office.

It's that time of year known as high season at FST, and already four shows have been extended, both on the Mainstage and Cabaret stages. After extending only three weeks into the run, YESTERDAY now has even more performances added to allow for as many people as possible to have a chance to experience the British Invasion, FST style.

Cast member Eric Scott Anthony speaks to the enthusiasm of audiences night after night stating, "One thing that happens most nights is an interesting response to one of Hunter (Brown's) lines. He says '...I mean they were KIDS. KIDS younger than ME...' He's referring to the Beatles. And the crowd says 'So were we!' This happens at least 6 out of 9 shows a week. It's thrilling to see their faces light up with nostalgia for their youth. For most, this was high school!"

While the sounds of YESTERDAY emanate from the Goldstein, just across the street in the Gompertz Theatre audiences will hear the sound of bagpipes blowing as they gather to see the current Mainstage hit, OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. The show's leading lady, Claire Warden comments on her own on-stage discoveries along the way stating, "Every night it is humbling and fills my heart how the audience seems to fall deeper and deeper onto Rosemary's side as the play goes on. As I dare to let Rosemary fill the space with all of herself; her grief, her fear, her love, her pain, her vulnerability, her ferocity, her longing, her joy, it is not only received fully and willingly by the audience but held and reflected back to me. It is that dynamic circle of communication between us and the audience that makes us all feel alive in every moment."

It's high season with a high volume of shows, people, and exciting contemporary theatre at FST.

Known as Sarasota's Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Artist Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company then acquired the former Woman's Club building, becoming the first permanent venue. Shortly after Producing Artistic Director Richard Hopkins arrived, the building was purchased and renamed The Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its five theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Gompertz Theatre, the Parisian style Goldstein Cabaret and John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne's Lab Theatre.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience. FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world. As FST grows and expands, it continues to provide audiences with challenging, contemporary drama and innovative programs.
