Greek tragic dramatist Euripides is one of three master Greek writers with Sophocles and Aeschylus. His masterpiece and the epitome of Greek tragedy [Medea] has been recreated into a Changgeuk opera by the husband-and-wife team of a director Seo aehyeong and a writer Han Areum. They are covering a wide range of genres from play, musical to opera. In the past [Medea] was regarded as presenting the archetype of a wicked wife and the incarnation of revenge, but today, as the chaos of motherhood that women experience comes into relief, the work is being interpreted in a new light.
