SIMPATICO - Godfrey Johnson and Aletia Upstairs in Music and Conversation

Godfrey and Aletia are a two of a handful of South African artists who understand the essence of cabaret. 

A talk-show style cabaret with comedy, torch songs, original music and duets. 

Godfrey and Aletia met at UCT in – probably 1996. He was the musical director of the Pantomime; she was Flora Dora Daisy. Was it Cinderella? Sleeping Beauty? Who knows? It was too long ago….

Expect material from cabaret masters like Jacques Brel and divas like Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand juxtaposed with contemporary singer-songwriters like Adele and vintage and alternative arrangements of pop songs in this rare collaboration.
