Cape Consort to Bring VENUS AND ADONIS to Fugard Studio Next Month

Following the success of the first three parts of the its highly popular Monteverdi Project, the Cape Consort returns to the Fugard Studio in October with the fourth part of this series, a presentation of the earliest surviving English opera, John Blow's VENUS AND ADONIS. Repeat performances take place on three consecutive Sunday evenings (3, 12 and 19 October) at 18h00 in the exquisite Sigrid Rausing Studio of the Fugard Theatre.

Morale is low having lost many brothers, but spirits are starting to rise after the arrival of the Americans into the trenches. In an effort to keep chins up, The Back to Front Players of the Royal Medical Army Corps are putting on a concert at the Medical Battalion in St. Julien, to come together for merrymaking during this brief hiatus from battle - a slither of joy and excitement before the darkness of war returns.
Artscape Spring Drama Season Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

This year sees the tenth anniversary of Artscape's annual Spring Drama Season, which runs from October to November 2014 featuring four diverse plays and two showcases at the Artscape Arena Theatre. The season forms part of the Artscape's New Writing Programme, which is devoted to the professional writing and production of new South African plays.

Powerhouse Creative Trio to Ignite Cape Town Fringe with CRAZY IN LOVE

Cape Town is in for a treat when a powerhouse creative trio presents the local premiere of CRAZY IN LOVE at the inaugural Cape Town Fringe Festival this year. Theatre legend Andrew Buckland and multiple-award winning visual theatre innovators, Rob Murray and Liezl de Kock, bring this Standard Bank Ovation Award winner to the Mother City for only six performances. Devised and performed by the inspirational pairing of Buckland and de Kock, the production is directed by Murray, with design by Jayne Batzofin.
