THE LATE NIGHT XXXMAS BOYLESQUE SHOW to Play Six Performances at Alexander Upstairs Theatre

Comedy cabaret variety show THE LATE NIGHT xxMAS BOYLESQUE SHOW will be coming to the Alexander Bar and Café Upstairs Theatre for a limited run during the month of December. BOYLESQUE is a tongue in cheek variety show, which pays tribute to early 20th century American style burlesque comedy and striptease performances, but with a twist - this revue has a distinct South African flavour. It is a fun journey through a variety of genres and styles of performance from comedy, cabaret, ballet and drag, voguing and of course, the art of strip tease.

The show stars three-time Naledi award-winning singer, actor, choreographer, dancer and TV personality Sibu Radebe, best known for his portrayal of the iconic character of Vusi on eTV soapie BACKSTAGE as well as his many appearances in musicals like John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's CHICAGO and Alan Menken, Howard Ashman,Tim Rice and Linda Woolverton's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

The show was conceived by cult filmmaker Stanimir Stoykov (DOOBEE BOOBIES), who also performs in the show. This edition of the show is a collaboration between Joburg and Cape Town based performers, including Cameron Camargo, Franco Lamprecht and guest performers from the Mother City.

BOYLESQUE premiered at the Foxwood Theatre in February 2013 and has been running in several venues across the country, like the Sandton Theatre on the Square, POPart Theatre in the Maboneng Precinct, Cantare at Monte Casino, Casta Diva in Pretoria and the Alexander Bar Upstairs Theatre in Cape Town. Different versions and collaborations have been derived from the original production, including last year's WELCOME TO BURLESQUE, which featured new cast members Emmanuel Castis and Michael Riff Themba. This was followed by the LATE NIGHT VARIETEASE SHOW, featuring Golden Delishas. Most recently Boylesque created the successful LATE NIGHT BOYLESQUE SHOW, which featured an entirely new cast.

THE LATE NIGHT xxMAS BOYLESQUE SHOW will be performed at 11pm on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20 December. Tickets costing R130 - R150 can be booked online at the Alexander Bar website or at the bar itself.
