A Night With Janis Joplin Photos - Off-Broadway

AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, a new musical based on the Oscar-winning film and original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart, premieres tonight, Thursday, October 28 at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas.

The producers of the new musical AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, announced today that the world premiere will take place in Las Vegas at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on October 26-31, 2021 followed by a multi-season tour that will visit more than 50 cities in the 2021-2022 season.

ZACH Theatre is currently presenting Legendary Ladies of the Grand Ole Opry as part of its Songs Under the Stars spring concert series.

A beautiful outdoor venue, yachts parked on the waterway behind the  stage, moon and stars overhead and a glorious voice performing a musical crossover selection of songs.  Andrea Bocelli live in concert at the breathtaking costal setting of Portofino, Italy?  Nope, it was Carole J. Bufford in the Harbourside Place Amphitheater in Jupiter, Florida.  

A Night with Janis Joplin returns to ZACH where its journey began; this time in the Topfer with Tony-nominated Mary Bridget Davies, who originated the title role on Broadway running January 29–March 8, 2020 at The Topfer at ZACH. Creator, writer and original director Randy Johnson joins Mary Bridget Davies with original choreographer Patricia Wilcox and original associate director Tyler Rhodes.

BroadwayHD debuted their slate of digital captures with Broadway & Beyond Theatricals at The APAP Conference at the Midtown Hilton to an extremely receptive and enthusiastic crowd. The BroadwayHD and Broadway & Beyond Theatricals partnership provides an opportunity for participating performing arts venues to attract new audience members in their communities. Theaters can offer these screenings featuring marquis talent at more flexible times and a lower cost to patrons than a live stage show, which could appeal to less traditional theater audiences such as college students and young professionals. The digital captures of these Broadway hits also provide theaters with the opportunity to introduce new audiences to their venues, alongside a variety of other programming and potentially create return customers for future events.

The new play THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN opened this week at Baltimore Center Stage. The new play by Keenan Scott II, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, and choreographed by Millicent Marie Johnnie is a co-production with Syracuse Stage and Baltimore Center Stage.

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director) presents A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, starring Mary Bridget Davies, following her Tony Award® nominated Broadway run.  Pasadena native Kacee Clanton, also from the Broadway production of A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, will alternate the role of Janis Joplin with Davies.  The production is conceived, written and directed by Randy Johnson, with choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Tyler Evans.  Check out a first look below!

The Broadway at Birdland concert series last night featured the return of Lindsay Mendez & Marco Paguia. Lindsay and Marco draw from an eclectic mix of music, reimagining songs from popular music in the familiar setting of a jazz piano trio and vocalist. Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage is proud to present 'My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra' by David Grapes and Todd Olson. A drop-dead, too-good-to miss musical revue featuring over fifty songs recorded by 'Old Blue Eyes,' this limited engagement of 'My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra' will begin performances on April 1.

Fresh from her Broadway run of Hair, Annaleigh Ashford returned to the Broadway at Birdland concert series with the musical magic of James Sampliner, on Monday, July 12. Annaleigh dazzled the packed house with popular classics by everyone from Doris Day to Janis Joplin. With an emphasis on the sounds of the 60's and 70's, Ashford and Sampliner performed 'It's Magic,' 'Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters,' 'Beautiful,' 'When I'm 64,' and many more.
