I had the privilege of interviewing Robin de Levita, mastermind of the 360 StageAround technology, about coming to Japan and why he felt it was important to create a new live theater experience for the world. The most inspiring thing he told me was that Arts Education deserves support and respect from the government. The impact of theater on our youth is huge! 'When kids come to the theater, their phones are switched off. The lights go down. The performance is life and alive. The impact is huge.' The Guthrie Theater presents West Side Story. Directed by Haj, this major revival of a timeless classic will play June 16 - August 26, 2018, on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. The international touring company of the beloved classic musical "West Side Story," which features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents, will come to The Theatre at Solaire (Aseana Avenue, Solaire Resort and Casino) next month, August 10-27.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) presents the Broadway classic West Side Story with book by Arthur Laurents, Music by Leonard Bernstein, Lyrics byStephen Sondheim, and based on a concept ofJerome Robbins. West Side Story will be directed and choreographed by Cassie Abate (CRT's Peter Pan, A Chorus Line, The Music Man) is the final show of the 2016 Nutmeg Sumer Series. The smash hit Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY is touring North America! Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction is recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Tony Award-nominee Joey McKneely (The Boy from Oz, The Life).

Based on the stories of radio humorist Jean Shepherd and adapted from the hilarious 1983 family holiday film, A Christmas Story: The Musical! follows young Ralphie Parker, as he schemes his way towards the holiday gift of his dreams -- a Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. With its sparkling original score by Broadway's hottest young composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, its wicked wit, and its heart of pure gold, A Christmas Story: The Musical! is a yuletide delight for the whole family.

The national tour of Broadway's current smash-hit revival kicked off to rave reviews at The Fisher Theatre in Detroit on September 30.

The WEST SIDE STORY tour is playing at the Pantages Theatre in LA through December 19th.

This week, top theatrical talent paid tribute to playwright Lynn Nottage, recipient of the 2010 ‘Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award', presented by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust. Scenes highlighting Ms. Nottage's work (including Ruined, Intimate Apparel and a preview of her upcoming By The Way, Meet Vera Stark) were performed by actors Quincy Tyler Bernstine (In the Next Room), two-time Tony Award-winner and Oscar-nominee Viola Davis (Fences, King Hedley II), Kimberly Hébert Gregory (The Brother/Sister Plays), Russell Hornsby (Intimate Apparel), Tony Award-winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story, In the Heights) and Condola Rashad (Ruined). Last night, September 27, the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival celebrated its official opening night, hosted by Baz Lurhmann. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presented a special preview of the 2010 offerings, featuring musical selections from: The Tenth Floor, I Got Fired, My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding, Tess, Above Hell's Kitchen, The History of War, Without You, and The Great Unknown. The best of Broadway was presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2010' - a lunchtime series which began on Thursday, July 8th at 12:30pm on the Bryant Park Stage and ended yesterday, August 12. The series, which just completed its 10 season, was sponsored by Bank of America and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and washosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities.

On Thursday, June 3, from 1:30 - 2PM at the Richard Rodgers Theater (226 W. 46th St, New York, NY), Latino cast members from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals WEST SIDE STORY and IN THE HEIGHTS joined the American Heart Association for 'The Heartbeat of Broadway,' a special event to learn the new Hands-OnlyTM CPR during National CPR Awareness Week 2010. The casts learned CPR at 100 beats per minutes to 'When You're Home' from the Grammy Award-winning IN THE HEIGHTS cast recording. BroadwayWorld brings you full coverage below.

Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles proudly announced their new and exciting 2009/20010 season on August 27th at Andaz West Hollywood. On hand for the celebration was the comedic star of stage and screen Carole Cook, who was introduced by GMCLA's Artistic Director, Hywel Sims, as a great friend to both GMCLA as well as the Gay community at large. The evening included a performance by GMCLA's own NPYNK performing a Show Business/Hollywood medley ('There's no Business Like Show Business' & 'Hooray for Hollywood') and 'Tonight' from West Side Story.
