Making his Broadway debut, Derek Klena will assume the role of Fiyero in the Broadway production of WICKED on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Mr. Klena has previously worked with both WICKED's newest Elphaba, Lindsay Mendez, and director Joe Mantello, in the off-Broadway world premiere musical, Dogfight.

In a phone interview with Mlive.com, Marc Platt, producer of the long-running Broadway musical WICKED, confirmed that the show will be adapted into a full-length feature film. 'For sure, there will be a movie. I just can't say when,' he affirmed.

Beginning performances on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, Lindsay Mendez will assume the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of WICKED. Ms. Mendez has previously worked with both the composer and director of WICKED, having appeared in the 2011 Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell, and, more recently, giving a breakout performance in the world premiere musical, Dogfight, staged by WICKED director Joe Mantello.

On Monday, December 17, 2012, the National Touring Company of Wicked hosted A Wicked WONDERLAND at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, MO. The event featured the company of Wicked, and net proceeds benefited Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and STAGES ST. LOUIS. Tickets ranged from $25 for students/actors to $100 for VIPs which included a post-show meet-and-greet reception with the cast. In addition to the performance, the event featured live and silent auctions including several opportunities to join the company backstage at The Fabulous Fox Theatre.

In a historic ceremony on Monday, December 17th, the blockbuster musical WICKED's iconic Elphaba costume, hat and broom were inducted into the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Tony Award-winning costume designer Susan Hilferty was on hand to sign the deed of gift as well as Broadway cast members Donna Vivino and Tiffany Haas who sang a selection of song from WICKED to commemorate this significant event. As BroawayWorld previously reported, beginning performances on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, Willemijn Verkaik will make her Broadway debut as Elphaba in the blockbuster musical WICKED. An award-winning actress who has performed the role for more than 1,000 performances in Germany and Holland, Ms. Verkaik will perform the role for a special 15-week engagement. She is currently headlining the Dutch production of WICKED and will play her final performance there on January 11, 2013.

According to the show's twitter account, Dutch star Willemijn Verkaik will join the cast of Broadway's Wicked as 'Elphaba' beginning on February 12.
