Broadway-bound Ricky Martin will travel to GLEE's McKinley High to play 'the hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio,' in next week's episode, airing February 7. Martin will soon star as Ché alongside Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris in the highly-anticipated upcoming Broadway production of EVITA, directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford. This is the first new Broadway production of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30 years ago.

People have to tell me to slow down. I plan on playing every role on Broadway. I want to do Evita. I want to do Sweeney Todd with [Glee costar] Chris Colfer. We want to do Wicked. I'll be Elphaba and he wants to play ‘Guy-linda.' I want to do movies, make music. Glee is only the beginning.'

TV: CHESS at Signature Theatre!

The production of Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Tim Rice's CHESS at the Signature Theatre opened August 10 and will run through September 26. Broadway's Jill Paice (Curtains, The 39 Steps), Euan Morton (Boy George in Taboo, Sondheim on Sondheim), and Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Rent) star in the rock musical Chess, which was directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. Written by Mamma Mia! composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with Evita and Lion King lyricist Tim Rice, the 1984 cult musical of Cold War competition in love and chess is being given its first major Washington area production. Chess will be performed in the fabulous intimacy of the 276-seat MAX Theatre through September 26, 2010.
