Broadway-bound Ricky Martin will travel to GLEE's McKinley High to play 'the hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio,' in next week's episode, airing February 7. Martin will soon star as Ché alongside Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris in the highly-anticipated upcoming Broadway production of EVITA, directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford. This is the first new Broadway production of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30 years ago.

Broadway veteran and GLEE star Lea Michele recetly chatted with Harpers Bazaar about everything from post-GLEE plans to adapting to her looks. Michele revealed, 'It's my nature. People have to tell me to slow down. I plan on playing every role on Broadway. I want to do Evita. I want to do Sweeney Todd with [Glee costar] Chris Colfer. We want to do Wicked. I'll be Elphaba and he wants to play ‘Guy-linda.' I want to do movies, make music. Glee is only the beginning.'

Arena Stage begins a new life in its renovated home at the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C., opening its inaugural season with a classic American musical that similarly embraces life on a new frontier. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! is the first production at the Mead Center and features an all-star cast under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. Theatre icon Elaine Paige, the 'Queen of West End Musicals' who has created the roles of Eva Peron in 'Evita,' Grizabella in 'Cats,' Florence in 'Chess' and Edith Piaf in 'Piaf' and had a triumphant debut on Broadway in 1996 as Norma Desmond in 'Sunset Boulevard,' signed copies of her autobiography, 'Memories,' on Wednesday, September 22, at the Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle store. Patti LuPone's eponymous new memoir, on sale tomorrow, September 15, is a revealing look at her career, bookended by two performances: her first production of Gypsy in junior high school and her award-sweeping turn as Rose in the same show in 2008. The audiobook edition, narrated by LuPone herself, is a particularly intimate version of her story, as told in her own words. The production of Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Tim Rice's CHESS at the Signature Theatre opened August 10 and will run through September 26. Broadway's Jill Paice (Curtains, The 39 Steps), Euan Morton (Boy George in Taboo, Sondheim on Sondheim), and Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Rent) star in the rock musical Chess, which was directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. Written by Mamma Mia! composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with Evita and Lion King lyricist Tim Rice, the 1984 cult musical of Cold War competition in love and chess is being given its first major Washington area production. Chess will be performed in the fabulous intimacy of the 276-seat MAX Theatre through September 26, 2010.
