What did our critic think of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at Palm Canyon Theatre? Based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, the musical gets the star treatment from composer/lyricist Jerry Herman and book by Harvey Fierstein and has become a gay cult classic since it’s Broadway debut in 1983.

Diversionary Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, directed by Lisa Berger.  The Glass Menagerie will run November 30 through December 23 on Diversionary Theatre's mainstage at their home in University Heights.

Diversionary Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its San Diego-premiere of Head Over Heels, a musical based upon “The Arcadia” by Sir Philip Sidney, with songs by the iconic 80's all-girl rock band, The Go-Go's. 

While the series' recurring cast includes Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, and more, guest stars have included Audra McDonald, Kelli O'Hara, Joanna Gleason, Adrienne Warren, Jinkx Monsoon, Norm Lewis, Norbert Leo Butz, and more. In sync with the off-Broadway revival currently playing in New York until 2024 comes to the Opéra Comique the first legitimate Paris revival of the 1986 French adaptation of The Little Shop of Horrors by the late Alain Marcel, which first opened at the Théâtre Dejazet in June and then transferred to the Théâtre la Porte St-Martin. A previous French revival, also at the Dejazet in 2001, starring Hervé Lewandowski as Seymour and Franck Vincent as the plant, was cut short because the rights didn't allow for the vegetal monster to be played by a human! Of course, this has now changed. As in the excellent Maria Aberg production at Regent's Park Open Air in 2018, the plant appeared in the human form of American drag queen Vicky Vox! In this new production, the plant made bigger and sensibly more frightening, is a giant puppet manipulated by Daniel Njo Lobé whose powerful voice gives the vegetal its identity.

Diversionary Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its production of The Mystery of Irma Vep by Charles Ludlam, co-directed by Diversionary Executive Artistic Director Matt M. Morrow and Allison Spratt Pearce. The Mystery of Irma Vep will run December 1 - December 24 at Diversionary Theatre in University Heights. 

The Wick Costume Museum has undergone a dramatic high-tech transformation, resulting in a stunning new venue, rechristened The Museum Club at The Wick. The completely renovated space will feature immersive video experiences, historic costume displays, dining, and entertainment. The Gala Grand Opening is Friday, September 16, and includes an intimate concert by Christine Andreas.

Mike Dixon is one of the theatre industries legendary characters. With over forty years in the business, he has been Musical Director for more than twenty West End productions.

Broadway music director, conductor, arranger, and songwriter Donald Pippin has passed away at 95. Pippin's work included his notable collaborations with Jerry Herman, including Mame and La Cage aux Folles.
